Silly, Silly, Silly Bully

Bullies are simple minded for the most part. Which makes them pretty predictable. So needless to say, I am not all surprised by a random comment submitted to this blog that is nothing other than an attempt to puff out their online chests. Furthermore, I’d have to be really stupid to leave my comments unmoderated (thereby letting anyone be able to post at anytime they please without being filtered through me first)! So does the online bully really think I’ll approve such an apathetic comment?

Of course he doesn’t, but he’s simple minded; he only thinks about the immediate present, not the very near future.

This is what we need to learn to bring to the bully’s attention: his shortcomings. I have yet to meet a bully that could ever bring down sound logic and reasoning, so why not fight back? The bully will have nothing left but hollow words. Why hollow? Because these are the very words that can be used against anyone. These slurs can be attached to anyone of a particular age, sex, race, or creed–not just you.

Can they find something that specifically defames your character specifically? Who you are? Usually not, but even when they do, it’s all they got. Challenge that fact, accept that fact, or get over that fact. We cannot change our past, but our future is always a clean slate. We can write whatever we want on it. But we only get one shot. One shot at being better than we were, better than we think we are, and better than we think we can be. If we do not think highly of ourselves, we let the bully win; we let the bully in. And that’s what they want; they love to invade your personal space. Whether it be a physical or emotional invasion, a bully thrives on making you feel uncomfortable. Don’t let the bully win.
